Installing the migration toolkit for applications

In this resource, we will discuss how to install the migration toolkit for applications (MTA), which is included with every Red Hat® OpenShift® and Red Hat Application Foundations subscription. It can be installed via the OperatorHub in the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform web console.

  • Red Hat OpenShift or Application Foundations subscription 
  • An available cluster that meets the requirements for MTA

Installing the migration toolkit for applications

  1. Log in to the OpenShift Container Platform web console.
  2. In the OpenShift Container Platform web console, click Operators → OperatorHub.
  3. Use the Filter by keyword field to search for “MTA”.
  4. Click the Migration Toolkit for Applications Operator and then click Install.
  5. On the Install Operator page, click Install.
  6. Click Operators → Installed Operators to verify that the MTA Operator appears in the openshift-mta project with the status Succeeded.
  7. Click the MTA Operator.
  8. Under Provided APIs, locate Tackle and click Create Instance.
  9. Review options (the default selections should be OK, but be sure to validate the system requirements for storage, memory, and cores). Then, go to the bottom of the page and click Create.
  10. In the Administrator perspective, click Workloads -> Pods to verify the pods are running.
  11. Access the web console from your browser by using the route exposed by the mta-web-console application within OpenShift.

You are now ready to start using MTA.
