What is Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes?

Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes provides end-to-end management, visibility, and compliance enforcement to manage your Kubernetes fleet. Take control of your application modernization with management capabilities for cluster creation, application lifecycle, and provide security and compliance for all of them across data centers and hybrid cloud environments. Clusters and applications are all visible and managed from a single console, with built-in security policies. Run your operations from anywhere that Red Hat OpenShift runs, and manage your Kubernetes clusters.

Introducing Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes

Unified multicluster management

  • Easily provision new Red Hat OpenShift clusters across: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud , bare metal, and VMware vSphere.
  • Experience a unified cluster fleet management experience by bringing together Red Hat OpenShift and other Kubernetes implementations into a consolidated control plane by easily importing and managing existing Red Hat OpenShift clusters.
  • Easily create, modify, and destroy clusters reliably, consistently, and at scale using an open source programming model that supports and encourages Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices and design principles.

Advanced application management

  • Automatically deploy applications to specific clusters based on channel and subscription definitions, by integrating repositories like Git, Helm, and object storage.
  • Define applications using open standards and deploy the applications using placement policies that are integrated into existing CI/CD pipelines and governance controls.
  • Ensure compliance and configuration are managed and maintained at scale for tighter CI/CD alignment with  Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management making the cluster inventory available to Argo CD.
  • Get a graphical application topology view that links all the applications and its related resources.

Policy-based governance

  • Get a consolidated view of the full Kubernetes fleet compliance posture and report on violations based on the defined and enabled policies through a governance and risk dashboard.
  • Use policies to automatically configure and maintain consistency of security controls required by industry or other corporate standards like NIST, PCI, HIPAA and more.
  • Enforce the desired state through remediation actions with the Open Policy Agent (OPA) integration, to enforce OPA policies at runtime and receive back any policy violation information.
  • Automate scanning and reporting for vulnerabilities and misconfigurations with the Compliance Operator which deploys an OpenSCAP engine.

Multicluster observability

  • Get an aggregated view across all  your clusters regardless if they are on-premises or on public cloud providers. The dashboard provides a Kubernetes resource summary, in addition to high level cluster compliance status, the number of pods and their status, and cluster status.
  • Customize Grafana dashboards based on metrics you define, along with the predefined metrics.
  • Easily identify, isolate, and resolve issues impacting distributed workloads by using dynamic search features and an interactive console.

Manage Kubernetes clusters
