Germán Sánchez on OpenShift

Name: Germán Sánchez Rodelgo

Hometown: Madrid, Spain

Twitter and blog: @gsrodelgo

Primary development language(s): Java

Technology you're most interested in right now: iOS

Technologies used: Openshift, Haproxy, Java, Jboss, JMS, HornetQ, Rest Easy, Postgresql, Objective-C, Wordpress, Mysql, Google Apps, Hibernate, PHP, EJB, CDI, ehcache.

What's it do?

Wex is a social network in which you can share your professional experiences. If the company in which you want to share your experiences does not exists, you can add it and let others comment about it. You can follow the companies in which you are interested and get push/email notifications about updates. You will vote for your favorite or hated companies to make a ranking per country. You can use the central raised tab bar button to travel around the world and see experiences in other countries or write your own. It´s free and available for iOS (iPhone, iPod touch and iPad).

What motivated you to create the application?

I'm always trying to learn new things related to software development and now is the turn of iOS, PaaS and Cloud.

What are the most compelling features of OpenShift?

Help developers make their ideas happen. I love the concept: if you grow you pay, if not, its free. It is very easy to have your own application of any kind up and running with such a great platform.

What are some features you'd like to see in OpenShift?

Replication and scalable database gears would be great to build complex architectures like the ones behind great mobile apps like instagram.
